2017년 미국 공영방송 라디오 NPR 채널에서 운영하는 ‘타이니 데스크 콘서트(Tiny Desk Concert)'에 빨간 색 머리에 아방가르드적인 검은 색 양복 드레스를 입고 등장한 이희문. 그로 인해 결성된 민요 록밴드 ‘씽씽'은 이날 이제껏 듣고 본 적 없는 전혀 새로운 한국 전통 민요를 불러 화제가 됐다.

당시 주최 측은 `씽씽`을 두고 이렇게 설명했다. ‘SsingSsing isn't like any other band I've ever seen or heard.(우리가 보거나 들은 적 있는 그 어떤 밴드와도 같지 않다).

가장 `섹시한 국악`을 `한국의 헤드윅`이 부르는 마법 같은 시간.

현재 그는 씽씽에 이어 두 번째 신작 '프로젝트 날`을 결성해 세계 각국의 크리에이터들이 모인 제10회 문화소통포럼(CCF)에 한국 측 대표로 선정되어 공연을 준비 중이다.

그리고 그 사이, 기자실 라이브를 방문했다. 한국에서는 처음 나오는 라이브 채널이다.
그는 한겨레 편집국 7층 기자실에서 기자실 라이브 공연 중 “미국에서 NPR에 출연하며 독특한 경험을 했다. 한국에서도 비슷한 경험을 하는 것 같아 흥미롭다”며 기자실라이브에 출연하게 된 이유를 말했다.

이날은 글로벌 업체 에어비앤비가 함께 했다. 현지 호스트가 기획, 진행하는 경험 공유 프로그램 `체험`(2016년 첫 선을 보인 후 현재 전 세계 1,000여곳에서 3만여 개 프로그램 운영 중)을 통해 기자실라이브를 찾은 관객들은 이희문 프로젝트 `날`과 함께 한 데 어우러져 공연을 관람했다.

이날 수익은 한겨레신문의 기자실라이브 이름으로 자연환경연합에 전액 기부됐다.

Lee Hee Moon appeared in 2017 with punk-red hair and an Avant-garde black suit and starred performed on ‘Tiny Desk Concert’, a show run by America’s public radio channel.

His folk music band ‘Ssing Ssing’ became a hot topic after singing traditional Korean music, unheard of by anyone. The producers at the time described ‘Ssing Ssing’ in these words: “Ssing Ssing” is unlike any other band I’ve ever seen or heard.

A magical moment where the ‘Korean Headwig’ Sings a ‘Sexy Traditional Korean Music’. Recently, Hee Moon has formed a new project group ‘Nay’ following up on his former band ‘Ssing Ssing’ and is preparing to perform at the tenth CCF as a representative of Korea.

And before this great performance, Project ‘NAL’ dropped in on our Pressroom Live. On the 7th floor of Hankyeorae’s newsroom, during his live performance, Lee Hee Moon mentioned his experience with NPR, saying it was a special experience, and that he thinks Pressroom Live would be a similar experience placed in Korea.

On this day, the global firm Airbnb was with us. Audience gathered through the experience sharing program ‘Airbnb Experience’ (Initiated by Airbnb in 2016 and currently running approximately 30,000 programs in over a 1,000 places in the world.) mingled with the Lee Hee Moon project ‘NAl’ and enjoyed their live performance.

The profits generated on this day was entirely donated to the Natural Environment Union in the name of Hankyeorae’s Pressroom Live.
