In this video lecture, we will discuss Trp operon, its structure and regulation of gene expression. The role of various regulatory and structural genes is explained in detail. The lecture will discuss how Trp operon is regulated when tryptophan is present and when tryptophan is absent. The mechanism of attenuation is discussed in detail. The Trp operon of E. coli is a negative repressible operon. It controls the biosynthesis of tryptophan in the cell from the initial precursor chorismic acid. This Trp operon contains genes for the production of three enzymes used for the biosynthesis of tryptophan.
