This originally was taped in December 1985 for airing for the 1986 season of the syndicated show 'Puttin' on the Hits" which was a popular 'lip-sync contest' produced by Dick Clark Productions.

The contestant and first round winner is 'Smittee', an avant-garde visual comedian who performed first in night clubs throughout Florida and this first of more National TV appearances was a result of a bar promotion that promised to send a VHS tape to a popular TV show, that was 'Puttin' On the Hits".

He later was discovered and invited by Joe Davola to first appear on MTV's Spring Break Coverage in 1986. He later made several appearances on MTV including MTV's title role in the 'Nero's Eve' New Year's Celebration.

Mark 'Smittee' Smith was well known for his visual comedy and TV appearances throughout the Northeast and specifically the Jersey Shore, but also toured with the 'Jump in the Saddle Band' as well as Weird Al Yankovic.

Uploader's Note: I found this local talent show in south Florida on a VHS tape that I was reviewing from mami's old recordings. I thought it was pretty good. Didn't know what channel to use decided to upload it on the family channel... enjoy!
