It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:

“We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on one of his campaigns. He passed by some people and said: ‘Who are these people?’ They said: ‘We are Muslims.’ There was a woman putting wood in her oven, and a son of hers was with her. When the flames got higher, she moved him away. She came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: ‘Are you the Messenger of Allah?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ She said: ‘May my father and mother be ransomed for you. Is not Allah the Most Merciful of those who show mercy?’ He said: ‘Yes indeed.’ She said: ‘Is not Allah more Merciful than a mother to her child?’ He said: ‘Yes indeed.’ She said: ‘A mother would not throw her child into the fire.’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) lowered his head and wept. Then he looked up at her and said: ‘Allah does not punish any of His slaves except those who are defiant and rebellious, who rebel against Allah and refuse to say: La ilaha illallah.’”

حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے ، انھوں نے فرمایا : ہم لوگ کسی غزوے میں رسول اللہ ﷺ کے ساتھ تھے ۔ ہمارا گزر کچھ لوگوں کے پاس سے ہوا تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ کون لوگ ہو ؟‘‘ انھوں نے کہا : ہم مسلمان ہیں ۔ ایک عورت تنور میں ایندھن ڈال ( کر اسے دہکا ) رہی تھی ۔ اور اس کے پاس اس کا بیٹا تھا ، جب تنور کی ( آگ کی ) لپٹ اوپر آتی ، وہ بچے کو پیچھے کر لیتی ۔ وہ عورت نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئی اور کہا : آپ اللہ کے رسول ہیں ؟ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ ہاں ۔‘‘ اس نے کہا : میرے ماں باپ آپ پر قربان ! کیا اللہ تعالیٰ سب رحم کرنے والوں سے زیادہ رحم کرنے والا نہیں ؟ آپ نے فرمایا :’’ کیوں نہیں ‘‘ اس نے کہا : کیا اللہ تعالیٰ اپنے بندوں پر اس سے زیادہ رحم کرنے والا نہیں جس قدر ماں اپنے بچے پر کرتی ہے ؟ آپ نے فرمایا :’’ کیوں نہیں ؟ اس نے کہا : ماں تو اپنے بچے کو آگ میں نہیں پھینکتی ۔ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے سر جھکا لیا اور رونے لگے ، پھر سر مبارک اٹھا کر اس کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے اور فرمایا :’’ اللہ تعالیٰ اپنے کسی بندے کو عذاب نہیں دیتا ، سوائے اس سرکش اڑیل کے جو اللہ سے سرکشی کرتا ہے ۔ اور لا الٰہ الا اللہ کہنے سے انکار کر دیتا ہے ۔‘‘

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“This nation has been granted mercy (in the Hereafter) and its torment (in this world) is at the hands of one another. When the Day of Resurrection comes, each Muslim man will be given a man from among the idolaters and it will be said: ‘This is your ransom from the Fire.’”

حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے ، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ اس امت پر رحمت نازل کی گئی ہے ۔ اس پر عذاب خود اس کے ہاتھ سے آئے گا ۔ جب قیامت کا دن ہو گا تو ہر مسلمان کو ایک مشرک دیا جائے گا اور کہا جائے گا : یہ جہنم سے بچاؤ کے لیے تیرا فدیہ ہے ۔‘‘
