Forging a Colonial Nail Header

Forging a traditional nail header, with a wrought iron body and a button of high carbon steel forge-welded on. Similar to the headers illustrated in Diderot's 18th century works, this style of header makes making nails with steep facets on the heads easier, as the dome gives the hammer face clearance for angled blows. Make these any size you need, and vary the shape of the dome to suit the style of head you need to make.
