This time we will be diving into the Swing module and see how we can apply swing to any modulation signal.

I'll be playing with a bass line and using an LFO to add some movement to it, then we'll introduce the Swing Module to take things to a funky new level.

Let's start with an LFO using a downwards ramp with a rate of 16th notes.

To apply swing to the modulation signal, we can simply insert the Swing module after the LFO. It has a predefined curve, but you can alter it to change the feel of the swing.

Essentially, the curve is a delay time automation that repeats itself every 16th note. You can change the rate of course and experiment with unconventional curves for some interesting grooves.

The Swing module works with any modulation source. You could even apply swing to audio from Live, as long as you're fine with it changing in pitch all the time because of the constant stretching it has to do.

Now, all of these modules rely on clock signals to stay in sync with Live. You can overwrite internal clock signals with your own. Instead of applying swing to the modulation afterwards, we can also apply it directly to the clock signal instead.

This is great for controlling many modules with the same swinging clock.

Finally, you can use the Swing module to apply swing to automations in Live as well. You only have to automate a parameter through Modulat using a Dial and a Remote module and insert the Swing module after the Dial and you're good to go.

If you render out a clock signal, you could even apply a groove from Lives groovepool. This is only the tip of the iceberg of what is possible.
