Maruti Suzuki Swift Summary
The 2024 Maruti Swift is now available in CNG, spread across three variants, with prices starting from Rs 8.20 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India).
The new Swift is priced from Rs 6.49 lakh to Rs 9.60 lakh (introductory ex-showroom pan-India).
Maruti offers it in five broad variants: LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi, and ZXi+. The Swift CNG is available in three variants: Vxi, Vxi (O), and Zxi.
The one-below top-spec Zxi variant can be regarded as the best variant of the 2024 Maruti Swift. Not only does it look premium with LED headlights and alloy wheels, but it is loaded with all necessary features like a 7-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic AC, a 6-speaker sound system, wireless phone charger, and push-button start/stop. Occupant safety is taken care of by 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), and rear parking sensors. All of this is offered from Rs 8.29 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new Swift in the top-spec comes with amenities like a 9-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 6-speaker Arkamys-tuned audio system (including two tweeters), automatic AC with rear vents, wireless phone charging, cruise control, push-button start/stop, and connected car tech.
Though there is ample space for both front and rear occupants in the Swift, the rear seats are comfortable for only two people. If three passengers are seated in the second row, their shoulders will rub against each other, resulting in a cramped experience. While the knee room and headroom are good, the thigh support could be improved, though it is not inadequate.
The new-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift has a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine (82 PS/112 Nm), paired with either a 5-speed MT or an AMT transmission. It is now also available in CNG with a reduced output (69 PS/102 Nm), and comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission only.
The claimed fuel efficiency figures for the 2024 Swift are as follows:
MT: 24.80 kmpl
AMT: 25.75 kmpl
CNG: 32.85 km/kg
Its safety suite includes six airbags (as standard), an electronic stability programme (ESP), a hill-hold assist, rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. Note that the India-spec version of the new-generation Swift hasn’t been crash tested yet by Global or Bharat NCAP. But given its list of safety features, we have high hopes from the 2024 Swift.
Its Japanse-spec version has already been crash tested and it received an impressive 4 star safety rating.
It is offered in six monotone and three dual-tone colour options: Sizzling Red, Luster Blue, Novel Orange, Magma Grey, Splendid Silver, Pearl Arctic White, Sizzling Red with Midnight Black roof, Luster Blue with Midnight Black roof, and Pearl Arctic White with Midnight Black roof.
The Maruti Swift is an extremely value for money car given its price range and set of features and performance on offer. Along with this, the Swift benefits from the trust associated with Maruti Suzuki, ensuring reliable after-sales support. Since the Swift is one of the highest-selling cars in India, it also boasts strong resale value. In our opinion, if you're looking for a comfortable and reliable hatchback for up to four people, the Swift is definitely worth considering.
The new-gen Swift directly rivals the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. However, at the same price point, the Renault Triber, Hyundai Exter and Tata Punch can also be considered as alternatives.
