Understanding the trauma of sexual assault | Rajat Mitra | TEDxCRCE

In developing countries like India especially the rural areas experience rape cases on a heavier side. Rape being an heinous offence often gets billed on the female who suffers the most, in order to bring to light the situation of the female who suffers through the same. Mr. Rajat Mitra in his talk here wants everyone of us to understand the trauma that follows the assault. Dr Rajat Mitra is a Clinical Psycologist, Consulting Psycologist for the Tihar jail prisoners who has been constantly working on putting gender justice in India on the world map. Having completed his PhD in Clinical Psyscology from Louisiana University, USA, he has also completed a programe on Refugee Trauma from the prestigious Harvard University. On various pieces of his work in the past and the present he has been awarded with distinguished honours, a few being the United Public Service Award in 2011, Nasscom Social Innovation award 2010, EdelGive Social innovation award 2010 and the Ashoka Social Entrepreneur Fellowship in 2003.
