Under new rules, any country trading with the EU will have to report greenhouse gas emissions linked to their exports of products like iron, steel and cement. Companies are being asked to collect data from the third quarter of the year and emission reports must be submitted from next year. Tariffs are to come into effect in 2026. Lauri Myllyvirta is a lead analyst at the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air, he explains this new system and its potential complications.
