Tintagel to Jacket Point North and back along The South West Coast Path

Hi Folks,

In October we wanted to walk from Tintagel to Port Isaac; we wanted to take the bus from Port Isaac to Tintagel and then walk back to the car. However, the bus took ages including a long wait at Camelford of 1 hour and 40 minutes, so we thought we would take a taxi, but that was really expensive. The Uber just didn’t work, although we tried three times. In the end we were wasting valuable South West Coast Path walking time and so we decided to walk the distance in two separate lots. One day walking from Tintagel to the “half way mark” at Jacket Point North and back; and then the second day walking from Port Isaac to Jacket Point North and back.

This was a very enjoyable walk and we found some lovely vegan chocolate cake at Trebarwith Strand cafe which helped with the final push back to the car.

It then rained cats and dogs and we (or rather our waterproofs) got soaked. As we walked out of Trebarwith Strand towards Tintagel it was like a waterfall coming down towards us. Before we left Trebarwith Strand we got changed in the overhang outside the public toilets (which was unfortunately closed) alongside people getting changed to go for a swim and surf. I felt quite intrepidated before setting off but hearing the young people run down into the sea with a “whoo hoo” inspired me on.

All photos and videos are taken using Jayne’s Samsung S20.

We refer to the Paddy Dillons South West Coast Path books by Cicerone, which we find very useful.

Keep Walking
