This 3D Butterfly Kite is part of the Crane kite range sold through Aldi supermarkets in 2017, it has apparently replaced the previous Butterfly kite in the Crane Kite range which was sold in Aldi's in 2016.
The kite made with a ripstop nylon sail onto which is printed the pattern ( The black areas are also printed because if the colours were printed onto a black cloth they would not show up in the sky ), the spars are fibreglass, unusually it has a 3D body which stays permanently assembled, it comes supplied with a tail and flying line all contained in a good case.
To assemble this 3D Butterfly Kite first attach the tail to bottom of the spine, next put the two thicker spars into the pockets along the leading edge of the wings then plug their inner ends into the upper junction making sure this is the correct way up. place the two thinner rear spars into the lower junction and flex them into a curve and insert them into the reinforced pockets.
I did have a problem with the bridle lines becoming untied from the kite, so check these or retie them before flying. The flying line is tied to the loop on the single central line of the bridle.
This 3D Butterfly Kite is another kite that performs best in lighter winds, on the day i filmed this kite it was blowing a gusty wind so i added a drogue ( Mini windsock ) to maintain stability, i think strong winds would over power this 3D Butterfly Kite.
This is an interesting Kite with its 3D body and in good sunlight colourful but it is a bit dark and does not show its true colours on cloudy days, also the sail is not hemmed so over time the edge will fray. Still not a bad at all at £5.
