La Salle Sentul is located Sentul, the 'Heart of Kuala Lumpur' in Kuala Lumpur. Slogan: Ilmu Sinar Hidup (Education is The Light of Life) La Salle Sentul is the first 'branch' of Christian Brothers school in Kuala Lumpur.
When the Japanese Occupation ended in Malaya, there was a great demand for education, with it, a demand for more schools. The Parish priest of St. Jospeh's Church in Sentul, Rev. Fr. Belet opened a small private school in 1948, which was housed in a wooden building in the church coumpund. Many Catholic boys from Sentul enrolled in it and in two years, the small building was overflowing with students! It was then that the La Salle Brothers were requested to take over. The Christian Brothers bought a piece of freehold land of four-and-a-half acres to build a new school. A new building was put up and on January 5, 1950, La Salle School Sentul was born. The school comprised of 11 classrooms, a small canteen and a large playing field. Classes were from Standard One to Six. The first Headmaster of La Salle Sentul was Rev. Brother Augustus D'Cruz , who was a firm, but good and just man. He maintained a high standard for the school; morally, intellectually and physically. During his term, La Salle Sentul excelled at studies as well as Sports. After Bro Augustus retired and was succeeded by Rev. Bro Bernard Jones, who was responsible for the opening of the La Salle Secondary School. In January 1964, La Salle Setul was split into La Salle Primary School (1) and La Salle Primary School (2). Bro Bernard was appointed Headmaster of School (1) and Mr John Ng Soo Chai Headmaster of School (2). Brother Bernard was also the Headmaster of the Secondary School, which was started at the end of 1964, which absorbed the Standard Six pupils into three Form One classes. The Form One classes expanded into Form Two and Form Three a shortage of classrooms occurred. Temporary classrooms were put up due to the efforts of Mr Ng Soo Chai and they lasted for 18 years! In June 1975 Bro Bernard retired and was succeeded by Mr Kok Yew Meng and Mr Ng Soo Chai for Secondary Schools (1) and (2). The three schools continued to enjoy success academically. Mr Ng Soo Chai was relieved by Rev Bro Lucian Ng and was promoted as Headmaster of La Salle Primary School in Petaling Jaya. Mr L A Fernandez succeeded Mr Ng Soo Chai and Mr Louis Danasamy succeeded Mr Kok Yew Meng at School (1). In September 1981, Rev Bro Ambrose Loke succeeded Bro Lucian as Headmaster of the Secondary School. Bro Ambrose brought about major changes to the School. He rallied efforts to build a new block and collected a large amount of funds. In July 1984, the new block was completed, consisting of a 4-story L-shaped building with 12 classrooms, 2 Science Laboratories and a large Library. With the completion of this new block, the Secondary School was able to start its first Form Four classes in January 1985. In November 1986, La Salle Secondary School offered its first batch of SPM arts students, and in the same year the Secondary School started its first Science Class. 1996 marked the end of an era of the Brothers. Brother Gerard Loius was the last who served as Brother in La Salle Sentul. Nevertheless, all the three Schools, SRK La Salle (1) Sentul, SRK La Salle (2) Sentul, and SM La Salle Sentul look forward to continuing success in all its endeavours. The LaSallian spirit still shines brightly in everyone's hearts.
