Center (மையம்)

Radius (அரை விட்டம்)

All radii of a circle are equal in length.
Example: The distance from the center of a coin to its edge.
Diameter (முழு விட்டம்)
A line passing through the center and touching the circle at two opposite points.
It is twice the radius.
Formula: Diameter = 2 × Radius.
Example: The full width of a circular plate.
Circumference (வட்டத்தின் சுற்றளவு)
The boundary or perimeter of the circle.
Formula: C = 2πr or C = πd
Example: The outer edge of a wheel.
Chord (நாண்)
A line joining any two points on the circle.
The longest chord in a circle is the diameter.
Example: A line joining two points on the edge of a CD.
Arc (வளைவு)
A part of the circumference between two points.
It can be a minor arc (smaller part) or a major arc (larger part).
Example: The curved edge of a rainbow.
Segment (பகுதி)
The region between a chord and its corresponding arc.
If the arc is smaller, it’s a minor segment; if larger, it’s a major segment.
Sector (துண்டு பகுதி)
The portion of a circle enclosed by two radii and the connecting arc.
Example: A pizza slice!
Formula for area:
Area of sector = (θ / 360) × πr²
Tangent (தொட்டு கோடு)
A straight line that touches the circle at exactly one point.
The tangent is perpendicular to the radius at the point of contact.
Example: The edge of a wheel touching the road at one point.
Point of Contact (தொட்டு புள்ளி)
The exact point where the tangent touches the circle.
Secant (செகண்ட் கோடு)
A line that cuts the circle at two points.
Every tangent is a special case of a secant that touches at one point.
