In this video, we complete Catalyst, the 12th main story mission in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, given by Ryder and set in Los Santos. This mission shifts the action from stealth to fast-paced combat and introduces one of the game’s most iconic early sequences involving a moving train.

The mission begins with CJ and Ryder heading out in Ryder’s truck after receiving information about an ammunition train passing through the city. Multiple gangs are already aware of the shipment, turning the train robbery into a chaotic three-way conflict. As the train slows down, CJ must protect Ryder and the cargo while dealing with waves of enemies.

During the mission, players are tasked with:

Driving Ryder’s truck to intercept the ammo train

Shooting Vagos attempting to rob the cargo

Defending the train against Ballas attacks

Jumping onto the moving train

Collecting and throwing cargo crates into the truck

Evading police attention using a Pay ’n’ Spray

Delivering the stolen crates safely back to Grove Street

This mission is a test of aiming accuracy, vehicle control, and situational awareness, especially while riding alongside a moving train under heavy fire. It also plays an important role in strengthening Grove Street’s firepower, directly impacting the gang war narrative early in the game.
