Amid allegations of graft in medical college inspections, newly appointed NMC chief Dr Abhijat Sheth has vowed to strengthen regulatory mechanisms and restore credibility. He said the Commission has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and will conduct a detailed root cause analysis to identify shortcomings. Dr Sheth emphasised the use of surveillance, biometric monitoring, and self-assessment systems to minimise manipulation in inspections. While key posts in the Commission remain vacant, he assured that reforms and operations will not suffer.
