Lucy Shepherd has dreamt of venturing deep into the Amazon since childhood — inspired by Disney’s The Jungle Book. Now, after years of leading Arctic expeditions, she sets her sights on her most ambitious challenge yet: the unexplored jungles of Guyana.
Teaming up with a group of indigenous Amerindians, Lucy attempts to become the first recorded team to cross the remote and treacherous Kanuku Mountain Range — a place few outsiders have even seen.
The route is unforgiving: dense virgin jungle where progress is only possible by hacking through vines with machetes. The air is thick with humidity. Every step brings new dangers — from elusive jaguars known for lethal ambushes, to stampeding herds of peccaries, and the deadly 12-foot bushmaster snakes, whose bite can kill in hours.
As the terrain pushes them to their limits, Lucy must rely on every ounce of experience, courage, and teamwork to survive.
Will they make it through one of the planet’s most inhospitable landscapes — or will the Amazon claim yet another expedition?
