Above was organized at the Seminar Hall, Science City, JBS Haldane Avenue, Kolkata – 700 046 on Wednesday the 14th August, 2024 at 02.30 PM onwards.

The program commenced with the introductory speech by Mr. Susanta Mallick, General Secretary, ILTA and the following dignitaries were invited on the dais.

 Mr. Arnab Jha, President, ILTA.
 Dr. Malathy Jawahar, Sr. Principal Scientist, CSIR-CLRI & Scientist in-Charge, RCED, Kolkata and Speaker of the Prof. B. M. Das Memorial Lecture.
 Dr. E. Ravindranath, former Chief Scientist, CSIR-CLRI & presently, Consultant, M/s Solidaridad.
 Dr. S. Rajamani, Vice President, ILTA (Southern Region) & Sr. Member, ILTA.
 Mr. Sanjoy Dasgupta, former Director, BIS & Sr. Member, ILTA.

Mr. Mallick requested Mr. Jha for delivering the Welcome Address.

After the Welcome Address Mr. Mallick invited the following to greet the dignitaries on the dais.

 Dr. Malathy Jawahar by Mr. Asit Baran Kanungo, Vice President, ILTA
 Dr. E. Ravindranath by Mr. Pradipta Konar, Joint Secretary, ILTA
 Dr. S. Rajamani by Mr. Kaushik Bhuiyan, Treasurer, ILTA
 Mr. Sanjoy Dasgupta by Mr. Amit Kumar Mondal, Executive Committee Member, ILTA

After that, Mr. Mallick invited Mr. Jha, Dr. Malathy Jawahar, Speaker of the Memorial lecture, Dr. E. Ravindranath, Speaker, Representative from GCELT, Alumni Association of GCELT, CFTC, Budge Budge, ILPA, ILCPA, CSIR-CLRI, Dr. S. Rajamani, Mr. Sanjoy Dasgupta, Award Winners & Representative from Industry for garlanding the portrait of Prof. B. M. Das.

Thereafter, Mr. Mallick announced the names of the following award winners and invited them on the dais for receiving the felicitation with Prof. B. M. Das Memorial Medals and the Prof. J. M. Dey Memorial Medal and Certificates.

Dr. Dibyendu Bikas Datta – Winner of J. Sinha Roy Memorial Award for his two articles titled “Determinants of Consumer Buying Behaviour : A Study of Footwear Market in Kolkata” & “Influence of Price, Promotion, Product Quality, Social Factors and Brand Image on Purchase Decisions for Domestic Leather Footwear and Accessories”, published in May & November, 2023 issue of JILTA respectively, adjudged the Best of all articles published in JILTA in calendar year 2023 by a committee consisting of Prof. (Dr.) Sanjoy Chakraborty, OIC, GCELT and Dr. Dipankar Chaudhuri, former Scientist & Head, RCED, CLRI, Kolkata

Thereafter, the following dignitaries were felicitated with Memento, Shawl & Citation:

a) Dr. S. Rajamani by President & Vice President of ILTA for his immense contribution to Science & Technology and the Leather Fraternity as a whole, over a long period of time.

b) Mr. Sanjoy Dasgupta by President & Vice President of ILTA for his immense contribution to the industry & leather fraternity as a whole, over a long period of time.

Dr. Malathy Jawahar was then greeted with a flower bouquet and Mr. Jha introduced him to the audience and requested him to deliver the Prof. B. M. Das Memorial Lecture.

Dr. Jawahar delivered his most contemporary lecture titled “Revolutionizing Leather Quality with AI based Defects Detection and Intelligent Grading”.

After completion of the lecture, Mr. Jha offered heartiest gratitude to Prof. Subhamoy Moitra and requested Mr. Susanta Mallick, General Secretary, ILTA, to present a Memento, Shawl & Citation and a Leather Bag to Dr. Jawahar.

After the segment is over, Mr. Jha invited Mr. Pradipta Konar, Joint Secretary, ILTA to greet & introduce Dr. Ravindranath to the audience and requested him to deliver a lecture titled “Advanced Wastewater Treatment Technologies for Recovery and Reuse of Water”.

Mr. Konar then offered heartiest gratitude to Dr. Ravindranath and requested Mr. Susanta Mallick, General Secretary, ILTA, to present a Memento, Shawl & Citation and a Leather Bag to Dr. Ravindranath.

At the same time, Mr. Mallick offered the formal Vote of Thanks to the participants on the audience, ILTA office and Science City authority for their role played towards successful completion of the event and invited them for a High Tea at the Dining Hall downstairs.

There were about 180 - 200 participants in the event.
