The K658 is a dynamic mic and has a unidirectional polar pattern, best if speaking slightly off-axis for around 30 degrees. To get better sound quality the best pickup distance is within 5 inches.

It is recommended you use this mic with a boom arm.
The included tripod stand is for temporary and simple use. It comes with a 5/8" Male to 3/8" female adapter so that you can mount it to your boom arm.
