Pierce County Sheriff's Deputy Bill Cassio is called to the scene of possible child endangerment; he finds a man with five children in a very messy house. The man says his wife left and will be bringing a sixth child the next day, along with food stamps. Cassio gives the man an hour to tidy up the premises; he and Deputy Bret Farrar go out and buy food, returning to find that the house has been straightened. The deputies decide to leave the children with their father, in the hopes that they can get their lives straightened out.
