WARM LEATHERETTE: PART I...The MIDI aspects of sequencing computer-based "electronic" music (We can debate the merits of what constitutes "electronic music" at a later time). This is a "dirty print" of David, or The Phylum Chordata, (currently also in the Depeche Mode Tribute Band, "Strangelove) working on Daniel Miller's (The Normal) "Warm Leatherette." This was recorded at David's Costa Mesa "MIDI REALM" studio. It's simply a video journal of the programming, sequencing, and synthesizing process that went into this particular song. It's not meant as a gospel into how to record electronic music; nonetheless, it is simply a video of my creative process at various points in time. Admittedly, my "movie-making chops" are hideous; however, what I lack in video editing chops I more than make up for in music making authenticity. This series of videos goes through the MIDI recording process, the audio recording process, the programming of a synthesizer...on the fly, and finally with a "dirty print" copy of the "final" first edit of Warm Leatherette...and now...Let's record MIDI Event Data and manipulate pitches, velocities, and durations...oh my....
