Awaken | Amritha Thankachy

The 9th paasuram speaks about Andal trying to awaken a Gopi who lies asleep beyond the precious stone studded doors.
“Thoomani maadathu” is a composition in the ragas Hamir Kalyani by Ariyakkudi Ramanuja Iyengar in which Andal tries awakening her fellow Gopi through various questions as she wonders about what goes on inside the Gopi’s mind as she sleeps on the soft bed , Dreaming ? Spell bound ? or Just a deep pleasurable sleep ?

“Awaken” is a rendition of “Thoomani maadathu” with an abstract visual depiction.
