Bats are well-known in the world as one of the efficient pollinators and natural renovator of forest. Especially flying foxes, since they forage on vast areas, they also play an important role in maintaining the stability of large ecosystems. In spite of their ecological contributions, their population are declining. Hunting and habitat loss are the major threats for these species. The Jose Abad Santos flying fox roost is one of the roost site in Region XI that is regularly monitored by DENR-XI.
