Day thirteen began with the Dartmouth Lower Ferry crossing, giving clear views across the harbour before landing in Kingswear. The route climbed steadily out of the village before settling into easier woodland and lane walking toward Maypool. From there it continued through Waddeton on a mix of quiet roads and paths before reaching the outskirts of Paignton.

Paignton was the liveliest section of the day, with the beach, promenade and town centre providing a big change from previous stages. The drink stops here were easily the highlight, offering a proper break before continuing north along the coast. The route then followed Paignton Beach, Hollicombe Beach and Livermead Sands in quick succession, each separated by short stretches of promenade and low cliff paths.

Further along, the National Home Guard Monument and Corbyn’s Head marked the approach to the final section, which continued to Torre Abbey Sands and into the centre of Torquay.

It was a straightforward day focused on coastal walking, busy seafronts and long promenades, with the ferry crossing and Paignton’s pubs providing the best moments.
