Cuttlefish fishing in the Persian Gulf صید ماهی مرکب (خساک - کاتل فیش) در خلیج فارس با قایق و گرگور

Cuttlefish are related to squids and octopuses – a group of molluscs known as cephalopods.
They live in water up to 200 metres deep but come to shallow waters to breed in spring. Their eggs are dyed black with cuttlefish ink, which gives them the appearance of grapes – giving them their name ‘sea grapes’. Cuttlefish usually live for two years and die after they have bred.
Cuttlefish are a chunky squid-like creature with a well-developed head, large eyes and mouths with beak-like jaws. They have a fin that runs around their body, eight 'arms' with suckers plus two tentacles around the mouth. Cuttlefish are extremely variable in colour, but are usually blackish-brown, mottled or striped. The cuttlebones found washed ashore are white, chalky and oval-shaped with thin harder 'wings' at one end.
Cuttlefish can quickly change colour and texture to merge into their background, distract predators or attract mates. They can easily mimic different types of seabed and will sometimes even sink into a sandy seabed to hide from predators, leaving only their eyes exposed. During spring and summer, males engage in spectacular displays to attract females, passing pulses of colour rapidly along their bodies.
The major fishing method for cuttlefish is to set a fish trap (Gargoor).



Fishing is one of the main sources of income and a common profession in the harbors of the Persian Gulf.

There are various fishing methods, all utilized with two types of vessels, namely boats and launches.
The healthiest fishing method would be with a fishing boat using a Gargoor trap, because the fish would be pulled out of the water alive. Also, it imposes the least harm to the environment.
In this report, some of the difficulties and problems that our beloved fishermen face on a basis are demonstrated.

From an outsider’s perspective, fishing seems simple and fun; but when you get on their boats and move far away from the port so much that there no sight of any harbor or land anymore, then it hits you. After about half an hour, there will be no phone connection; and it’s just you, your boat and the heat of the sun; plus a GPS connection as your only hope to find your way back home.

That’s when the challenges suddenly appear.

Nonetheless, the astonishing silence of the waters expect for the sound of the small waves striking the sides of the boat creating such an unforgettable experience.

Which is the most interesting, otherworldly and fresh aspect of wandering within the sea.

The essentiality of patience for fishing
Trusting in the merciful, all-giving god
and having a lot of hope for a fruitful fishing journey.

A difficulty of fishing is lack of a toilet or bathroom and having to hold it from the morning until the evening or night.

But on the way back, there’s definitely an obvious glamour of joy in everyone’s eyes, since you’re returning to the shore and seeing your loved ones after a risky venture; among other reasons.

ماهیگیری در خلیج فارس بیشتر یک راه درآمد و گذران زندگی در بنادر ایران است .

روش های صید متفاوتی وجود دارد که عمدتا توسط دو نوع شناور (قایق -لنج ) انجام میشود .
سالم ترین روش صید توسط شناور قایق انجام میشود که در روش صید گرگور با توجه به اینکه ماهی تا زمان بالا آمدن زنده است روش مطمئن و سالمی است و به محیط زیست نیز کمترین خسارت را وارد میکند .
این گزارش صید، قسمتی از سختی ها و مشکلات صیادان عزیز و زحماتی که در دریا جهت کسب روزی میکشند را نشان میدهد .

تا زمانی که از دور به صید و صیادی نگاه میکنیم کار آسان و لذت بخش است ولی وقتی سوار قایق میشوی و از اسکله دور میشوی دور دور و دورتر تا جایی که نه بندر دیده میشه و نه هیچ خشکی دیگه . بعد از گذشت نیم ساعت آنتن موبایل هم می‌ره و فقط قایق و آب و آفتاب و تنها امید میشه جی پی اس که بتونه آدرس خشکی نشون بده .

اونجاست که پی به سختی کار میبری .

نکته جالب اینکه در همین شرایط، سکوت زیبایی به همراه صدای آبی که به بدنه قایق میخوره لذتی وصف نشدنی داره.

تجربه بسیار جالب و پر هیجان و لذت بخشی برای من بود .

توکل و اعتماد به خداوند روزی دهنده

و امید برای داشتن روزی پر از صید


از سختی های دیگر صیادی بخوام بگم .
نبود سرویس بهداشتی و تحمل صبح تا عصر یا تا شب که بتوانند برگردند به ساحل .


وقتی تو راه برگشت قرار میگیری یه خوشحالی در چهره همه دیده میشه .
رسیدن به ساحل و دیدن خانواده مهم ترین دلیل این خوشحالی است .
