On Monday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan decided to lift the lifetime ban on politicians in a 6-1 ruling. Last Friday, a larger bench consisting of seven members, led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa, had reserved the decision in this case.

This ruling relates to the same legal provision that led to the disqualification of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party Chairman Jahangir Tareen.
