A peaceful birthday party in Stockton, California turned into a nightmare when gunfire erupted — killing 14-year-old Amari Peterson and three others. His father, Patrick Peterson, spoke publicly for the first time, describing how he tried to save his “golden boy,” cradling him after he was shot… only to watch him slip away.

Amari was just a kid, full of hopes — loved sports, did well in school, and had big dreams for the future. The birthday bash, held at a banquet hall for a 2-year-old, had over 100 guests; when fans rushed to cut the cake, shots rang out.

Patrick recounts the horror of that night: grabbing his daughter to take cover, then rushing to his son only to discover a fatal bullet wound to Amari’s chest. “They took my baby,” he said, still haunted by the images.

As the community reels, the police — along with federal agencies — continue their manhunt. A reward is now being offered for information leading to the arrest of the shooters.
