Vermont's Department of Health Katy Leffel, Emily Smith, and Kim Dasik presented the draft strategic plan created through the Maternal Health Innovations Grant, a federal HRSA grant aimed at reducing maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity in Vermont. This strategic plan will serve as a unifying framework to align maternal health initiatives in Vermont, including activities funded under the Maternal Health Innovation (MHI) grant and regional efforts. It will guide statewide policy, data integration, collaboration, and community-based supports to reduce maternal mortality, severe maternal morbidity, and poor perinatal outcomes. The plan will also provide a roadmap for coordination across agencies, hospitals, community partners, and families, ensuring efforts are sustainable, evidence-based, and equity-driven. here will be additional opportunities to engage in discussion around the plan.
