Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece and an important historical and cultural center - an open-air museum of Byzantine art. Thessaloniki is also the culinary capital of Greece. The name of the city comes from the name of Princess Thessalonica, the wife of one of the rulers of Ancient Macedonia.

The city lies on the Gulf of Salonica and has a long and rich history that dates back to the 3rd century BC. In this video we will take a look at the most important tourist attractions of Thessaloniki.

We will see, among others:

The White Tower, the symbol of the city, which was built in the 16th century by the Ottoman Turks. Nowadays, it houses a museum that tells the history of the city.

Rotunda of Galerius, an ancient Roman building that is now a museum.

Kapani Market - This is a historic market where you can buy fresh produce, seafood and souvenirs.

Hagia Sophia Cathedral - Orthodox church in the center of Thessaloniki. It is one of the oldest churches in the city. It was built in the 8th century on the site of an earlier temple from the 3rd century. It was modeled on the Hagia Sophia basilica in Constantinople.

Aristotelous Square - The main square of Thessaloniki, surrounded by numerous cafes, restaurants and shops.

Saloniki to drugie co do wielkości miasto Grecji i ważne centrum historyczne i kulturowe - skansen sztuki bizantyjskiej. Saloniki to także kulinarna stolica Grecji. Nazwa miasta pochodzi od imienia księżniczki Thessaloniki, żony jednego z władców Starożytnej Macedonii. Miasto leży nad Zatoką Salonicką i ma długą i bogatą historię, która sięga III wieku p.n.e.

W filmie tym przyjrzymy się najważniejszym atrakcjom turystycznym Salonik. Zobaczymy m.in.:

Białą Wieże, symbol miasta, który został zbudowany w XVI wieku przez Turków osmańskich. W dzisiejszych czasach mieści się w niej muzeum, które opowiada o historii miasta.

Rotunda Galeriusza, starożytny rzymski budynek, który jest obecnie muzeum. Rynek Kapani: To historyczny targ, na którym można kupić świeże produkty, owoce morza i pamiątki.

Katedra Hagia Sofia - Prawosławny kościół w centrum Salonik. Jest jednym z najstarszych kościołów w mieście. Została zbudowana w VIII w. na miejscu wcześniejszej świątyni z III w. Wzorowana była na bazylice Hagia Sophia z Konstantynopola.

Plac Aristotelous - główny plac Salonik, otoczony licznymi kawiarniami, restauracjami i sklepami.
