Certain factors are input into this worksheet, such as income of the parties, expenses, if they're work related, income taxes, number of other children that you have, cost of daycare, and cost of health insurance.

If everybody agrees on the facts or numbers to put into the equation, child support is very consistent. Often there's disagreement on those facts, and it's important to have the assistance of an attorney when you're determining child support.

In addition to what facts you put into the equation, the court's allowed to deviate from child support for a number of reasons and come up with a different number.

The court has a tremendous amount of discretion when it deviates, so it's important when determining child support that you not agree to a worksheet or a final number until you've met with an attorney experienced in divorce or custody to tell you whether that child support is reasonable for your case.
