The Supreme Court questioned whether it is even possible for a person to shoot himself in the chest with a rifle, in a case earlier treated as suicide of a 17-year-old student in Bhopal. The boy had been accused of theft, allegedly harassed and beaten by fellow students, before taking his life and leaving a suicide note. While the High Court had granted anticipatory bail to the accused, the victim’s father argued that the court trivialized the incident, misstated his son’s age, and ignored signs of abetment by the accused. The Supreme Court has now sought an affidavit, autopsy report, and all investigation details, including the possibility of murder.
