ACorpus Podcast - Episode 2: Cervical Artery Dissection

Описание к видео ACorpus Podcast - Episode 2: Cervical Artery Dissection

Neck pain and/or headache are the most common initial physical symptoms of cervical artery dissection (CAD). Neck pain and headaches are also among the leading global cause of disability within the last decade. Thus, many patients seek their GP and/or manual-therapy treatment to alleviate the pain. In this ACorpus episode Aleksander Chaibi and Robert James Cooper will discuss different aspects of CAD, i.e., incidence rate, common adverse event following manual-therapy, and most importantly, provide clinicians with practical tools to detect a latent/progressive CAD.

The reality is related to the chicken and the egg discussion, i.e., whether the CAD symptoms lead the patient to seek cervical manual-therapy or if cervical manual-therapy provoke CAD along with the non-CAD presenting neck complaint. The discussion is based on Aleksander Chaabi’s latest scientific paper, titled: “A risk-benefit assessment strategy for detecting and preventing cervical artery dissection in manual-therapy: A comprehensive review", published in the leading medical journal Annals of Medicine.
