Higher Education in Pakistan, key problems and possible solutions

This video is an attempt to highlight the key issues in Pakistani higher education along with the possible solutions/recommendations.

1- Very expensive, money making machines, no funding.High tuition fees, no proper funding and scholarship mechanism. Critique on Ehsaas scholarship program (only for poor)
2- Gap between Industry and Academia. Industry does not support academia, does not offer any funding for research and development.
3- Discouraging research environment. Universities discourage research, Professors are busy in teaching. Students avoid research, choose course based degree. Professors are not giving enough time to students who are doing research

4- Lack of technical infrastructure Lack of research labs. Lack of software and hardware. Universities do not provide internet facility to students, students don't go to library, they use mobile to get information so they need good internet, PERN bandwidth goes without use

5- Problems with online education. No proper training for teachers and students. Teachers are not fully equipped. Students do not have computers at homes

6- Language barrier. Students from remote areas cannot understand English. Medium of instruction is English, Teachers are compelled to deliver lectures in English, students' presentations and exams are in English language
7- No goals for higher education, what are we making? What they can do after this degree?Are we producing clerks? Will they get jobs after such research skills? training?

Suggestions

1- Reduce tuition fees
2- Bring scholarship and funding programs for every student, for both rich and poor
3- Reduce gap between industry and academia
4- Encourage research, upgrade teaching methodology to teach latest research techniques including research software

5- Upgrade research labs, provide research software to faculty and students
6- Provide internet to students (library fees goes in vain, give internet instead of library services)
7- Provide training to teachers and students for online education.
8- Remove language barrier
9- Set goals at university end, aim to produce graduates who are equipped with knowledge and skills.
