A Walk in the Woods AND a Reservoir Find--Glocester, RI

Durfee Hill Management Area in Glocester, Rhode Island has no proper trails, so I didn't expect much when I walked Jackie there, using the Route 44 entrance. But there are UNMARKED paths that lead into the woods, and to a reservoir. I can't stress the word "unmarked" enough.

You really need to pay attention walking here, or you will get lost easily. But if you follow the correct off-shoots of the main path, you'll be rewarded with a gorgeous view of what I think is the Ponaganset Reservoir.

The first third of the walk is heavily bombarded with insects, so there's the first problem. Next, there are no actual "trails" here so don't expect color patterns painted on trees, or arrows, or signs--you're truly on your own! With all the forks in the road (paths) it can get tricky remembering your way back.

The paths are generally easy as far as footing and incline; at least for the parts I explored. Again, the tricky part is not to get lost. Lots of bird activity, as well, and some great views. Though part of the walk I felt I was in such remote woods, that I expected to see a bear or Bigfoot. I saw neither.
