TRANSCRIPT:
My name is Dr Nóirín O'Herlihy and I am the Director of Women's Health in the Irish College of General Practitioners and work as a GP in Cork. In the ICGP, the Women's Health Task Force is helping us provide a number of educational events in the past year. These help ensure GPs have access to up-to-date information to support the care they provide to their patients, focusing on endometriosis, menopause, early medical abortion and contraception. In September 2021, we launched the ICGP course in Community Gynaecology with over 200 GPs attending. We are working on a guide for GPs on domestic violence. GPs have engaged with the Women's Health Task Force to advocate for improved services for women. In 2022, a new ICGP/HSE Clinical Lead in Women's Health will commence work. This is an important role in providing clinical guidance to GPs to enable a comprehensive life course approach to women's health.
