The movie presents cinematic views of the impressive Ivalojoki river delta. During a goldrush in the 18th century Ivalojoki became famous as the ‘gold river’. The Tankavaara Kultamuseu let you dive into this golden history and is referenced by the movie.

The movie continues with an introduction to locations in Northern Finland: Lake Inari, Inari, Siida, Ivalojoki, Ivalo, Tankavaara, Kultamuseu and Kultala.

Kultala was a center of golddigging during the goldrush. Kultala is located beside Ivalojoki river and can be approached by canoe and by the Pahaoja Trail. The movie presents fascinating impressions from both routes (canoeing and hiking).

The Ivalojoki waterway starts at Ivalon-Matti bridge and passes by Kuttura, Kultala and Ivalo. Finally Ivalojoki broadens and forks to an impressive river delta at the junction with Lake Inari.

From the harbour Veskoniemi the canoetour crosses the gigantic Lake Inari towards Inari. Lake Inari is the 3rd largest lake in Finland and is segmented by hundreds of islands.

The Siida museum in Inari shows exciting exhibits and multimedia impressions of local culture and nature. The closely located Pielpajärven Erämaakirkko has been a cultural centre for hundreds of years.

Finally the movie jumps to Saarisälke. A hike to the magic peak Pyhä-Nattanen allows for great views around.
