In a major announcement, Odisha's Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister, Krishna Chandra Patra, confirmed that eligible beneficiaries will receive monthly rations starting from January 2024 under the Public Distribution System (PDS). The minister emphasized that the ration for each month should be distributed by the last week of the previous month, with two months' worth of ration provided in certain cases to meet demand. The state will also focus on timely lifting of public distribution goods and speeding up the distribution process. Additionally, the e-KYC verification process has seen significant progress, with 84% completed so far.
