HAL Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) is being developed for civilian and military applications. These are intended to replace license-built versions of Aérospatiale SA 315B Lama (designated Cheetah) and Aérospatiale Alouette III (designated Chetak) in service with Indian Army and Indian Air Force.

The HAL Prachand multi-role, light combat helicopter has been ordered by the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army. On 1 June 2022, an attack squadron was raised by the Army Aviation Corps in Bangalore. A total of seven squadrons are planned, each with ten helicopters.IAF formally inducted HAL Prachand into 143 Helicopter Unit at Jodhpur Air Force Station on 3 October 2022.

The Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH-DHRUV) is a twin engine, multi-role, multi-mission new generation helicopter in the 5.5 ton weight class. Dhruv is “type–Certified” for Military operations by the Centre for Military Airworthiness Certification (CEMILAC) and civil operations by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The major variants of Dhruv are classified as Dhruv Mk-I & Mk-II (utility, TM-333-2B2 engine), Mk-III (Shakti engine, armed forces suited for high altitude ops) & Mk-IV (armed, for attack and close air support).

The Indian Multi Role Helicopter (IMRH), a medium-lift helicopter, is currently under development by HAL for the Indian Armed forces for air assault, air-attack, anti-submarine, anti-surface, military transport and VIP transport roles. IMRH is aimed to replace all the current Mil Mi-17 and Mil Mi-8 helicopters across the Indian armed forces.
