Food, drugs, cosmetics, and devices imported to the United States that do not comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations may be detained by FDA Compliance Officers at the U.S. Port of Entry. There are many reasons a product may be detained. Some examples include:

-Adulteration (illegal colors or pesticides, undeclared allergens, etc.)
-Misbranding (failure to register, labeling errors, etc.)

Products or companies with a history of non-compliance may be added to an FDA Import Alert, which subjects shipments to Detention Without Physical Examination (DWPE) at the U.S. Port of Entry.

This webinar educates industry on how to handle U.S. FDA detentions as well as how to petition for exclusion from a U.S. FDA Import Alert.
