This is a fun exercise that in addition to building drawknife skills, is also a great workout. Trying to carve fast forces you to not overthink. I have found that this exercise not only improves my physical ability but more importantly makes my unconscious habits become conscious, helping me improve my strategy and carving efficiency. It may look haphazard to the casual observer, but every motion has purpose. And the results are undeniable.
