One of the highlights of Bucovina is its painted monasteries. In this slideshow, one can see my Bucovina home base of Gura Humorului and then two of the painted monasteries in question, Voronets and Moldovita. The countryside is gorgeous and these painted monasteries are unique in the world for being painted on the outside as well as on the inside. Of course, Mother Nature and the elements can be cruel on some of the artwork and many times the side of the church is spared is the one that doesn't receive the bulk of the wind and rain. The song is "Dear God" by Midge Ure, a fine Scottish musician, which I thought was appropriate for a slideshow including painted monasteries!
