This has changed the way I've seen friendships... You are the train, and life's experiences are the tracks, with stops representing life events or phases. Some people get off at the first stop - they were never meant to stay around long anyways. Others will come with you for a few extra stops, share memories but then leave when their designated stop comes up. A handful of people stay with you until your very last stop of your journey which really never ends. People come and go in your life and it is up to you to appreciate those who are with us along for the ride and to let others go who aren't meant to be in our lives. Ultimately, you can't get other people to go on the same journey with you and to get off at the same final stop that you are. Compatibility isn't just about who you meet, but when you meet them; sometimes trains (people) aren't aligned for the same destination. The beauty lies in knowing when to hold on and when to let someone catch their next train, accepting their departure as part of the journey.
