President: Taiwan will not surrender to China's coercion; We will defend country's sovereignty | ANC

On The Scene: Only military strength can keep the peace with China, and the Taiwanese people will not give in to Chinese coercion, Taiwan's President Lai Ching-te said on Wednesday (June 19). Speaking at a news conference marking one month since he assumed the presidency, Lai said that the Taiwanese people “love peace” but the island needs to “rely on strength” to ensure peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
