In June 1973, Elon College (Winston-Salem NC) held a music camp that featured a variety of guest artists including Charlie Colin, Renold Schilke and others. Lew Soloff, still on tour with BS&T, was slated to appear as guest artist & clinician with the jazz band led by Jack White.
Lew was unable to attend due to touring conflicts, and arrangements were made for Bill Chase (who had only days earlier just dissolved his amazing 10-piece aggregation) to the featured sub. Bill talks about his long tone exercises, life on the road and how happy he was to be involved in the (then) fast paced changing scene of pop and jazz/rock fusion music.
