My O-A Retirement Visa Extension

It's that time of year again—renewing my O-A Retirement Visa in Thailand! In this video, I take you through the entire process step-by-step, all done by myself without the help of an agent. If you plan to extend your retirement visa, this guide will help you quickly navigate the requirements.

The Process: The most challenging part? Getting Chanya out of bed! It’s always a bit nerve-wracking since you never really know what surprises Thailand Immigration might have in store. But with the proper preparation, things can go smoothly. I’ve included links below to the three essential documents you'll need to complete, along with a checklist of the other required paperwork—like your bank statements, health insurance, and copies of your passport and bank book. Remember, immigration often asks for duplicates, so be prepared!

First Stop: The Bank My day starts at the bank, where I obtain the crucial authorization letter and a one-year bank statement. These documents are vital to proving the financial requirements for the O-A Retirement Visa extension.

Off to Immigration: After sorting the bank documents, Chanya is finally ready, so we head west to Nakhon Pathom Immigration. We arrived just before lunch, and I’m happy to report that the process went smoothly without any unexpected issues.

A Rewarding Lunch: With the visa extension successfully completed, it’s time to relax and enjoy a well-deserved lunch. Chanya picks one of our favourite spots—PhraoHom Cafe, a cozy coffee and steakhouse nestled in a coconut plantation. The delicious and affordable food makes it the perfect end to a productive day.
