Picking sides in The Wicker Man

SPOILERS FOR THE WICKER MAN (1973)

Director Robin Hardy has referred to The Wicker Man (1973) as not a cult film, but a film with a cult. I think he's right, and that's the scariest thing about it. All the obvious horror is contained to the very end of the movie, but once you've seen the movie a few times, it becomes clear that the horror is there right from the start, in almost every moment the villagers are on screen. Also Christopher Lee is absolutely crushing it.

Did I mention that I love The Wicker Man (1973)? Ha ha, it's true!
