Indian Curried Lentil Soup Recipe
This Indian curried lentil soup is warm, hearty, and full of nourishing flavors. A perfect blend of spices, coconut milk, and red lentils makes it creamy, comforting, and delicious.
Ingredients:
2 tbsp oil
2 tsp cumin seeds
3 cups onions, finely chopped
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
2 cups tomatoes, chopped
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp coriander powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 cup red lentils (masoor dal)
500 ml water
400 ml coconut milk
Fresh coriander (cilantro), chopped for garnish
Method:
Heat oil in a large pot. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
Add onions and sauté until golden brown.
Stir in ginger garlic paste, followed by tomatoes. Cook until soft.
Add cumin, turmeric, coriander powders, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
Mix in red lentils and pour in water. Simmer until lentils are tender.
Stir in coconut milk and let the soup simmer gently for 5–10 minutes.
Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with rice, naan, or flatbread.
