Greed Mode, but I can’t buy anything

Tainted Cain Greed run without taking items. Tainted Cain technically doesn’t ‘take’ items anyway, of course… right? T.Cain’s inbuilt mechanic crafts items. But in this run, I’ve limited myself to crafting with naturally spawned drops only; no drops from touching items are allowed and nothing can be bought from the shop.

The result is a narrowed down pool of items I can craft. Most of which would be Q1 or Q2. Of course, in Greed mode, coins spawn after clearing a wave of enemies. So, with an abundance of coins, these rules would inform a strategy that crafts ‘Portable Slot’, an active item guaranteed from crafting eight coins together.

This then mean every further ‘Portable Slot’ that is made would generate an assortment of different & better pickups to craft with. After clearing waves and waves of mobs, and crafting with all the coins I can get, I could then repeat this strategy to generate better drops, and better items with more advanced recipes; snowballing into a build comprised of a few strong items (all whilst falling under this ‘can’t-buy-anything’ ruleset).

Rules:
- Play as Tainted Cain (unseeded) on Greed Mode
- Nothing can be bought from the shop
- Bag of Crafting Items are allowed (items made with BoC)
- All resources are eligible for crafting (apart from those generated directly from items)
- No ‘Item Pedestals’ or ‘Deals’ can be taken*
- All HP pickups are allowed
- Pills/Runes/Cards/Trinkets are allowed

Win Condition:
- Defeat Ultra Greed and enter the chest.

*this essentially bans conventional ways of generating drops as Tainted Cain via taking items, so is the most logical ‘itemless’ wording of this rule. Basically, I don’t take items this run, I can only craft them. Then, anything crafted can be used normally in any way - i.e. drops from ‘Mystery Sack’ can be used for crafting or be taken with no further restrictions. This just felt right, yanno?
