Villagers have made an incredible discovery in Java, Indonesia of a Petrified Wood Log that is over 25 million years old. Fossilized wood generally forms when ancient tropical trees fall down from a volcanic eruption. The wood fossils then become buried in mud, ash, silt and other materials. Silica in the volcanic ash seeps into the ancient tree and fills in the tiny pores in the wood's cells. This changes the overall composition of the wood, turning it into fossil stone material, while preserving its original structure.
