Hornet Nest Removed so the pool could be safely serviced

This bald faced hornets nest was located almost directly above the pool filter area. The homeowners had just moved into this house and noticed the hornets nest when they were checking out their pool equipment. The issue was that the homeowners and any workers that had to service the pool could have been stung by these stinging insects.

During this treatment, there was a light rain. This helped us out a little bit because most of the worker hornets were in the nest at the time of treatment. We like to suit up in our sting protective suits to allow us to get up close and personal to the nest. After we don our protective gear, we use our favorite aersolized insecticide, PT PI, to eradicate the hornets and their nest.

By getting up close to the nest, we are able to inject the aerosol directly into the main opening of the nest. Since our product works so quickly, the hornets are killed off before they even have a chance to exit the nest. In fact, many times, the dead hornets in the nest create a dam and prevent other hornets from exiting until they are all treated and the nest is dead. This process takes only a few minutes.

Once the activity in the nest has ceased, we remove the nest completely. Once the nest is removed, the remaining hornets that were out of the nest during the treatment will return to where the nest was mounted and not follow the nest. These remaining hornets cannot rebuild the nest and will all die off but we accelerate that process by treating the area where the nest was located. We typically use a liquid insecticide that has a residual component to it to ensure that any remaining hornets will be treated and eradicated within a day or two.
