Edinburgh Old Town Slums (High-Rise Hovels in 19th Century Scotland - Episode 1)

Meet Edinburgh's tenement slum dwellers and their struggle living in high rise hovels, where every day was a struggle to collect water, care for family and stay clean. The city's 19th Century poor were crammed into the Old Town slums, while the rich lived in the New Town, separated from the smog and smells. In the words of a Victorian philanthropist we visit the Old Town and meet some inhabitants and learn a fist-hand account of the hardship of life.
